“AS BERKER BERKER LAW FIRM, PROVIDING A GENDER EQUAL WORK ENVIRONMENT, WHILE MAINTAINING A HARMONIOUS BALANCE AND EFFICIENT WORKING CONDITION FOR OUR EMPLOYEES HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL REMAIN TO BE OUR PRIMARY GOAL”
Atty. Ayça Berker, BerkerBerker Law Firm, Gentleman Magazine January 2020 Issue.
Even though male and female perspectives may differ, they complement each other. This complementary construct produces a more creative and innovative outcome and provides for a sounder basis, such is the case within technology as well as every other sector. Hence, the primary aim of the employers has always been to create a gender equal environment not only in Turkey but in the world. Such practice is not only a need but a primary must for an industry so rapid in its growth and pace like technology.
I think that WTECH by its existence, is a hope in itself. Being organized and performing certain tasks within a structure is always important when dealing with issues which require the collective effort and substantive devotion. This has always been the most effective way to realize such a goal. In this sense, the mere creation of WTECH and its functioning as an active organization means a great deal. Giving encouragement and support to young and brilliant women working or studying the fields of STEM, being available as a consulting mechanism for them, and in fact merely being their guiding light, definitely will contribute to the rise of the “tech women” in Turkey.
I have worked for Turkcell Group, one of the leading firms in Turkey on the technology sector, for aproximatelly 15 years within its legal department as both a lawyer and a team leader. I’m currently continuing my legal career as the founding partner of the Berker Berker Law Firm. As a law firm, we don’t fit the general idea of a tech firm, but we do provide legal services for clients who work within the field of technology, and by working with such clients have realized the deep connection technology and law has with one another.
With that being said, we’re aware of the fact that a balance of male and female team members is a very significent component to a healthy work dynamic. Currently eight members, myself included, within our team of 11 lawyers in total are women. As Berker Berker Law Firm, providing a gender equal work environment, while maintaining a harmonious balance and efficient working conditions for our employees has always been and will remain to be our primary goal.
Each and every woman this platform has and will continue to reach is also a mother, whether it is the meaning of motherhood or simply being a guiding force to other people, and this means brining awareness to future generations. Hence, young women will learn knows themselves and realize their potential and by doing so will be able to change the world by working in the most powerful sector of the future, technology. As a female lawyer working closely with tech I sincerely support WTECH’s future endeavors.
